To take off C2W… you HAVE to be comfortable falling.
The first landmark of comfort is to be able to take-off the wall in a clean way.
Clean in this context means passive: you are taking off through your alignment, mimicking what happens at the end of a kick-up.
A not so clean, or cheated, take off on the other hand consists in actively yanking the leg(s) off the wall to experience a few milliseconds of airtime.
Thread very carefully if you do this: if unaware, you will be rehearsing a pattern that will make your life harder down the line - there is no wall to conveniently push against when we are upside down.
The cheating part is of course the product of two things:
body awareness - you have to develop the mindfulness required to spot yourself cheating
fear - it’s one thing to know what you’re supposed to do, it’s another when facing the fear of falling. Technique goes out the window. Building up confidence upside down will allow you to clean up your technique.
If it doesn’t come easy to you, we’ll need a full plan of action.
