Now that you have gotten used to piked shapes and the open shoulder position they require, you want to grow stronger whilst open, in order to sustain disruptive skills such as gaze shifts, leg movements and pressing.
While blue belts get used to being open and piked, purple belts want to own these positions so well they shouldn’t be synonymous with poorer consistency or duration.
A lot of your program, therefore, should be articulated around making the static open positions stronger, and sprinkling head and leg movements when appropriate.
In the process, you will further investigate your compression and how it plays out with your shoulder angle.
